Tío Charles Artisan Coffee began with a trip to Orlando, Florida, where Sofia visited her Grandma, the sister of her uncle Charles. Sofia, who had always preferred sweet lattes, had only heard stories about Charles' coffee but had never tried it. During that visit, Sofia and her husband, Michael, tasted Charles' coffee for the first time and drank it throughout their vacation, realizing it was truly special. Upon returning to Tulsa, they found their regular coffee disappointing in comparison. Their newfound love for Tío Charles' coffee deepened when he sent them six pounds of beans, which they consumed with joy, making every morning a celebration of this exceptional coffee. Michael and Sofia decided that the joy of Tío Charles' coffee was too good to keep within the family and needed to be shared with others.
